Kohana Coffee has been in business for the past seven years with sales both nationally and internationally. Kohana is a coffee manufacturer that produces liquid coffee concentrate and roasted coffee.  We have a unique process that makes us competitive, and allows our coffee concentrate to have a one year shelf life, much longer than other company’s products.
Due to our explosive growth in the coffee concentrate industry, we are moving into a new production facility and increasing our staff.

We seek a Warehouse Manager-Manufacturing Supervisor who will manage and assist the VP of Operations with the day-to-day operations of a single Manufacturing Warehouse.

This is a full-time, permanent, exempt, management position.

SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Key metrics are quality control, all production, sanitation programs, efficiency of operations, inventory accuracy, FOB performance, freight costs/control, and adherence to budget, food safety regulations and quality control.

Duties include, but are not necessarily limited to:

Responsible for all manufacturing operations, including production, maintenance in a new 8000 square foot warehouse.

Meet required production goals and shipping deadlines. Assist with maintenance and production on the production line when required.

Maintain a high level of regard and customer service for all customers. Cultivate a positive and innovative work environment.

Perform analysis on manufacturing performance and expenses and develop goals for improvement. Formulate and recommend manufacturing policies and programs that guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and in the profitability of the operation. Identify, develop and implement lean initiatives with measurable goals to improve productivity and reduce costs. Foster a continuous improvement environment. Maintain a required level of quality control to be tested and measured against.

Management of incoming orders, overseeing inventory and supply vendor orders and relationships. Perform general administrative duties in relation to managing production workflow, order processing, inventory control, and office management. Manage vendor relationships and negotiations for production supplies and freight logistics.

Assist with the development of the annual operational budget for all functional areas within the warehouse and monitor compliance. Budget responsibilities include the following: labor, utilities, repairs and maintenance, production supplies, and capital expenditures. Evaluate monthly actual versus budget. Provide explanation for expenditures.

Critical data entry into our new production management system, which we would rely on for real time reporting for business decisions in headquarters, scheduling production and work crews to accomplish production goals.

Manage logistics of finished goods held for inspection, as well as timely shipment and delivery of goods.

Supervise five plus warehouse employees, to include scheduling of work hours, performance appraisals, hiring, promotions, terminations and training. Ensure plant is fully staffed and follow through on all levels of staff for proper back-up of individuals for all positions. Ensure supervisor coverage for all shifts. Schedule employees for on-call availability.

Follow up and lab testing. Product defects, product specifications, product recalls, sanitation issues, down time, maintenance problems.

Initiate and coordinate major projects, (ex. Plant layout changes, installation of capital equipment, major repairs, etc.).

Manage required paperwork, schedule and perform required testing and inspections. Maintain warehouse as “inspection ready” for third party audits and regulatory inspections. Supervise and assist with the warehouse sanitation program, which must achieve a superior rating, based on company standards and guidelines. Act as point of contact with warehouse building landlord.

Develop and implement policies and procedures to maintain safe and efficient facility and logistics operations. Making certain all employees are properly trained, safety equipment is properly used, and safety procedures (SOP’s) followed. Maintain awareness of, and ensure compliance with all Company, Federal, State, County, and Municipal government regulations, procedures and practices. Ensure compliance specifically with CDPH  Cannery Program, GMP, USDA, HAACP, OSHA, CCOF Organic Certification and other appropriate programs.

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED:
Minimum of five years of experience in Production Management in the food processing industry – preferably in coffee.
Minimum of three years of manufacturing experience.
Food & Beverage processing and Supply Chain Management experience is a plus.
Experience working in food manufacturing facility and with all applicable regulatory entities.
Supervisory experience.
Knowledge of good quality assurance practices
Safety management
Data entry management; data analysis
Organization/operational skills
Equipment maintenance; understanding of processes, mechanics and operational functions of production line equipment. Great mechanical and electrical skills and ability.
Skills to address corrective action responses to any issue or challenges.
Ability to analyze report data to determine corrective actions needed to improve plant performance.
Competency in the use of computer based programs and processes.
Good written and verbal communicating skills.
Knowledge of all regulatory requirements of a California food manufacturing facility such as CDPH Cannery Program, CCOF, HAACP, GMP and OSHA.

EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS:
Equivalent of Associates Degree or more, is a plus.

Base salary is $50k ++, depending on experience. This is a full-time, exempt management position.
