Jeff King & Company seeks an exceptional individual as a Senior Project Manager/Production Manager to help us realize our vision of a thriving and innovative future. This person will be in charge of the entire production side of the company.
This is a full time, permanent position.
SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Project Manager/Production Manager will be in charge of the entire production side of the company, including management of the Project Managers, overseeing scope, budgeting, scheduling, staffing, labor, quality control, change orders, client satisfaction and other duties as necessary. Act as a leader and mentor to a production staff of 25.
Oversee Project Managers (PM’s) who are managing multiple residential projects in the $250K to $3M range, with in-house carpenters and sub-contractors to ensure that projects are closed on time, within budget and with happy clients who are willing to be referral sources.
Assist PM’s in their duties when needed. Developing, reviewing and managing budgets and cost control, action plans, change orders, client issues, etc. Assist as necessary to manage high-level, subcontractors & vendors, help to problem solve with the crew.
People management: Manage labor allocations to ensure that projects are properly staffed; manage the job board; hire/fire/retain effective staff; utilize an effective evaluation process: oversee training. Recognize top talent, and guide under-performers. Lead, mentor and manage the performance assessment of PM’s, Site Superintendents, and Carpenters, helping to maintain positive employee satisfaction.
Manage the departmental process from contract through job completion.
Plan and execute production strategy for particular projects and general administrative planning for future projects.
Work successfully with architects, designers, building/zoning code officials to facilitate project implementation.
Stand in for the President, when needed. Interface directly with clients. Clearly understand and articulate issues, bringing about quick and satisfactory solutions.
Play a key role on management team to meet financial goals of the company and to promote a proactive environment by anticipating, addressing and solving problems. Effective participation in strategic focus; leadership; problem-solving; putting words into actions.
Provide ongoing project status and financial update reports to officers. Maintain an open dialogue and constant communication with officers about potential issues or concerns.
Lead weekly Project Manager’s meeting enforcing compliance to meeting documents, reporting and attendance.
Enforce safety regulations and proper job site management.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED:
Minimum of ten years of strong “build” experience, including direct project management of high-end, custom residential construction. Must have at least five years of solid hands-on management experience. Unique, challenging and interesting construction projects are a plus.
Deep and broad understanding of project management, construction methods and techniques, residential architecture & design, business systems, budgeting, scheduling, resource allocation, contract administration, skilled in construction and financial software.
Management of $10++ million in production revenues. Thorough understanding of different Prime contracts and the relationship to budgets and Subcontract Agreements.
Additional helpful experience includes artistic, architectural and/or hands-on trade work.
Must be able to manage processes for all aspects of construction project management, production and production tracking.
Experience managing a prosperous, growing company. Be aware of and foster referral opportunities from owners, architects and others.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to coordinate all aspects involved in residential Design and Construction. Strong building related administrative and computer skills, including project management, spreadsheets, and scheduling software.
Strong business sense. Solutions driven. Seek out answers.
Strong estimating skills and experience a plus.
