Leland Saylor Associates, a nationally recognized construction cost consulting firm headquartered in San Francisco, is looking for experienced, dynamic individuals to continue our phenomenal growth. Leland Saylor Associates is a leader in the cost consulting industry on the West Coast, focused on public construction in the civil, transportation, health care, and educational markets.

Recent projects include the San Francisco International Terminal 3, Sacramento Airport, and the San Francisco Bay Bridge. .  Other types of multi-million/billion projects include schools, university and research facilities, hospitals, healthcare facilities, water infrastructure, utilities, fire stations, police facilities, parking garages, museums, courthouses, office buildings, and civil and transit projects such as highways, bridges, airports and light rail.

Saylor has two immediate openings for Construction Cost Estimators, both Senior and Junior positions, to work on a variety of high profile, commercial and institutional projects. These are full time, permanent positions with benefits.

SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Types of services are primarily design phase estimating, but may include on-site change order estimating, document control, and/or claims analysis.

We are looking for outstanding Cost Estimators with demonstrated ability to produce meticulous estimates at Concept, Schematic, Design Development, and Construction Documents, and a minimum of 5-15 plus years related experience in large institutional projects including civil, airports, rail, water, healthcare, school, higher education, correctional, justice, large office, etc. We are looking for senior estimators (10-15 years of experience with strong conceptual estimating) and junior estimators with two to ten years of experience.

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED for Junior and Senior Estimator:
  • Estimating experience with large complex construction projects, ($50 million++) such as those described above… airports, hospitals, schools and universities, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Excel .
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Senior estimator will have the ability to work directly and effectively with Clients/Owners, Principals, Architects, Engineers, and Construction Managers.
  • The ability to manage budgets, schedules, and projects to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Mechanical and Electrical estimating skills are a plus.
  • Leadership skills, the ability to grow and manage an office are a plus.
  • Superior technical expertise in all types of estimates.

Additionally,  depending on experience and qualifications, the Senior Estimator may:
Train and mentor junior staff in all facets of estimating procedure and methodology, review estimates, and review work product of mechanical and electrical estimators.
Prepare and review conceptual estimates on multi-million/billion dollar projects using past experience, historical data, and parametric estimating ratios.
Assess risk and adjust prices accordingly; as well as advise our clients on risk mitigation, value engineering, market trends and otherwise act as our clients’ cost advisor.
Assist marketing department in business development activities as needed

EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a closely related field.
