Studio Director to oversee the daily architectural operations of the studio.

SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Position Overview: The Studio Director will provide leadership, vision, and strategic direction to the entire architectural team and office as it relates to the execution of projects.
Additional duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Ensure financial and operational success of the studio by meeting Revenue, Profitability, Quality, and Utilization goals.
Lead the staffing and project resourcing process and performance management of the teams.
Lead in the development of a Quality Control Program, which includes the development of a Detail Library, Drawing Standards, and a drawing delivery process.
Oversee all architectural production. Provide cradle-to-grave leadership for projects, ensuring projects are delivered on-time, within budget, and with the highest quality and thoroughness.
Have a hand in the projects…oversee Quality Control, review and provide input on the progress of drawings, and ensure that final drawings are complete, code compliant, and accurate.
Interface with Principals and project managers to develop and manage a work plan for each project.
Act as a technical resource and mentor for the entire office, providing input and direction on detailing.
Stay involved and active as a project manager with select clients and projects.
Participate in the interview process for potential new projects.
Act as a firm ambassador and enthusiastically motivate and mentor for professional development of the staff.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED:
We realize that every interested candidate might not have all of the desired experience, but here is what we are looking for in terms of experience and skills… the more you have, the better!
- Minimum of fifteen years of overall architectural experience.
- At least five years of management of a studio and overseeing production in the office.
- Deep understanding and a minimum of five years of commercial office (shell/core & TI) experience.
- Excellent leadership skills. In addition to managing and mentoring staff, you are a likeable, respectable person, with a genuine interest in enhancing the careers of those in the studio.
- Strong technical competence and skill in construction documentation/administration.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Excellent judgment skills.
- Effective problem solving skills, strong business acumen, and strategic thinker.
- Dynamic communicator and excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal.
- Reputation as an expert in the industry and active in professional/industry associations is preferred.
- Accomplished in software typically utilized by architects.
- Revit skills preferred.
- Specification writing or editing preferred.

EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS:
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or related field required. Master’s degree is preferred. Registered/licensed architect required.
