Our Company provides engineering design and consulting services in the "behind the scenes" infrastructure of buildings… specializing in design of security systems (including video surveillance, access control, and intrusion detection systems), telecommunications (programming, system design, technology planning), audiovisual (conference rooms, video conferencing, operations and security centers), and much more. The firm has successfully completed more than 450 projects across the nation and internationally, developing an extensive knowledge base in university, healthcare, housing, corporate, high end residential, government and transportation work.

We offer comprehensive services throughout the facility development process, including master planning, design and engineering, project management, and construction administration. We work directly with building owners and on teams with architectural/engineering firms, in many of the Bay Area's newest, most modern buildings, as well as upgrading the systems in our age-old architectural crown jewels. We are seeking Design Engineers to assist us in our exploding growth as we continue to build on our reputation as one of the best consulting/engineering firms in the Bay Area and beyond.

JOB SPECIFICATION

The Design Engineer- Telecommunications Systems works with clients, manufacturers, design team members and other employees of the company to take each project from start to finish with direction from the Associate or Senior Design Engineer.

Successful completion of job duties will provide complete, accurate documentation and timely construction observation services to identify and resolve potential problems before they occur.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Participate in client meetings and programming sessions to develop the telecommunications systems parameters and design criteria.

Prepare contract documents consisting of drawings and specifications detailing the telecommunications system design and programming criteria.

Work collaboratively with the design team representing the client's telecommunications interests and concerns, coordinating the telecommunications system design and developing creative alternatives so telecommunications is an integrated design of the project.

Conduct project site visits during construction to verify the installation is proceeding in general conformance with the contract documents matches design criteria and specifications.

Prepare field observation reports and participate in construction meetings to address field coordination issues and assist in resolving necessary field modifications.

Conduct product research to find the best solution for each client.

Develop creative solutions to unique and challenging telecommunications issues and problems.

Participate in project management such as reviewing billing, client relationships, and coordination with other design team member.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide instruction of work tasks to Junior Design Staff.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Minimum 2 years as a consulting engineer in electrical discipline, construction related industry or equivalent experience.

AutoCAD Release 2000 or higher, 1+ years experience.

Intermediate user of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Proficient with Microsoft Outlook.

Self-directed.

Excellent communication skills.

Ability to analyze problems using a methodical approach to create workable solutions.

Ability to conduct business communications in an effective and concise manner.

EDUCATION

Desired Degree/Major: BS in engineering, electrical preferred.

Preferred Knowledge and Skills:

PE - Registered Professional Engineer.

RCDD - Register Communication Distribution Designer (Telecommunications)
