REPORTING TO: Head of Home Services Division
LOCATION: San Rafael office, but all work will be in the field at clients’ homes.

We seek a talented multi-skilled tradesperson to be a Special Projects Construction Technician, to act as a “Jack of all Trades” technician, for the ongoing service and repair work at the homes of existing clients.

SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Position Overview: After Plath finishes the construction portion of a new-build or a major remodel, if desired, homeowner clients are put on an ongoing service maintenance plan. Additionally, homeowners may have Plath perform miscellaneous updates and repairs. The Technician will perform this work.
The Technician will manage the work and related schedule, perform the routine repair/service work, and utilize sub-contractors as appropriate. Work is charged on a time and materials basis, so the Technician will use email to keep track of all work and expenses. The projects may last a few days, or there may be multiple small projects in one day.
Additional duties and responsibilities:
Perform a variety of specific maintenance and upkeep work needed by the homeowner. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Carpentry: both framing and fine finish work.
- Plumbing: such as repairing/replacing leaks, sinks, faucets, toilets, pipes, etc.
- Electrical: light electrical, from changing light bulbs, installing ceiling fans, light fixtures, switch plates, smoke detectors, appliances, etc.
- Heating/Air Conditioning: basic maintenance, clean filters, etc.
- Various: repairs/installation/replacements of tiles, windows, doors, locks, hardware, door knobs, move furniture, etc.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED:
The company realizes that every interested candidate might not have all of the desired experience, and some training will be provided, but here is what they are looking for in terms of experience and skills… the more you have, the better!
Minimum of seven years of solid and various construction trade experience, with a minimum of five years in residential (preferably custom and high-end homes).
Excellent carpentry skills, especially finish work.
Excellent overall trade skills and ability to troubleshoot when necessary.
Experience working directly with homeowners.
Excellent communication skills. Ability to keep a clear email trail of communication trail with Plath, the homeowner and all parties involved, including subs, vendors, etc.

Must have clean driving record. Successful candidate will require a background check.

EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS:
All construction education and experience is a plus.
High school diploma required.
