POSITION TITLE: Director of Marketing

REPORTING TO: CEO

LOCATION: Berkeley, CA

OUR CLIENT:

Our client's products bring an unprecedented level of performance and simplicity to the growing need for traffic monitoring on freeways, arterials and parking garages, and traffic signal controls at intersections.

A leader in ultra low-power wireless sensor networking, the Company has developed a family of vehicle detection products. Wireless sensor networking is a breakthrough technology that combines sophisticated networking software with highly integrated radio and sensor chips to enable sensing applications on a scale - and at a cost- unthinkable until now.

With this product, it is now possible to deploy vehicle detection at a much higher density and at a fraction of the initial installation and maintenance costs of currently prevalent technologies such as inductive loops, video cameras, and radar.

The Company seeks a Director of Marketing to develop, implement and sustain the company marketing messages to its customer community and the industry in general.

SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing and communications plan for the company, addressing both short and long range goals, to support the sales and profit objectives of the company.
  • Create collateral and materials to promote the company
  • Maintain content of the website
  • Develop, gain approval for, and manage the marketing budget, within the framework of the overall budget and business plan
  • Participate in product positioning discussions, pricing and product marketing strategies
  • Network and outreach to early adopters and influencers
  • Monitor competitive product and service offerings, marketing activities and financial performance. Maintain current positioning and performance grids.
  • Identify and engage external advertising, public relations and other marketing services agencies and vendors, as necessary, and negotiate contract terms for their services
  • Prepare regular marketing activity reports and presents them to executive team

    EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • 5-10 years of corporate marketing experience
  • At least 2-5 years of high-tech company experience in a marketing role
  • Experience creating and implementing marketing plans, collateral and promotional material
  • A good sense of humor and ability to deal with high pressure and unreasonable expectations gracefully
  • Quick and Sharp
  • Desire and passion to succeed

    PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:

  • Strong research, analysis and project management skills. Adept at deciphering and summarizing complex marketing and competitive information.
  • Excellent communication skills: verbal, listening and written. Able to articulate key strategies, and position the Company's products and services.
  • Demonstrated job progression with stability
  • Technology orientation is a plus
  • High level of enthusiasm
  • Ability to be a self-starter and to also ask for help as needed

    EDUCATION:

    BA or BS in business, with emphasis in marketing. MBA is a plus.
