POSITION TITLE: Director of Sales and Marketing, Automotive

REPORTING TO: President

LOCATION: Santa Rosa, CA

This company sells electric vehicles, both personal transportation items (scooters, electric bikes, ATV's, etc) as well as electric cars. They are an innovative a public company. To date, the company has delivered more than 90,000 electric vehicles to customers in more than 75 countries, establishing the Company firmly as a leader in the alternative transportation marketplace.

Today, the Company is renewing its focus as a pioneer at the forefront of advanced transportation technologies and leveraging its place in the market as a magnet for new technologies. The Company believes there is a growing and underrepresented market for fuel efficient transportation vehicles and is capitalizing on the opportunities, enhanced by heightened environmental awareness, climate changes and economic pressures. The technologies are there to deliver transportation solutions that are practical and affordable. With its recently introduced products, the Company is already today delivering such solutions to the market. The Company's goal is to become the largest and most complete brand and distribution portal in the United States for advanced technology vehicles.

Accordingly, the Company is seeking a Director of Sales and Marketing to develop a comprehensive marketing plan to build and increase electric vehicle (EV) sales.

SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Director will develop the strategic product marketing and sales plan and build the team necessary to meet EV sales objectives and EV dealer growth. S/he will find the markets and dealers who may have an interest in selling the vehicles, and make them aware of the Company.
More specifically, the challenges of the role include the development and creation of:

  • Strategic plan to increase sales to existing dealers and reach the market for potential new dealers.
  • Marketing strategy to create fleet sales.
  • Develop, modify and add to the existing team to reach sales objectives. Manage, lead and mentor a current team of four to five people.
  • Implement/execute the plans, include increasing the number of dealers, increasing sell-through (to consumers) for existing dealers and new dealers.
  • Have responsibility for budgets, and profit/loss.
  • Oversee development of marketing materials, collateral, promotions, etc.
  • Demonstrate an ability to inspire others, support and/or build effective teams.
  • Deploy CRM tools and technologies to optimize opportunity management and customer communication.

    EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
    The ideal candidate will have:

  • Minimum of five years of automotive experience; three years in automotive marketing.
  • Sales management experience at an automotive company
  • Proven track record of adding dealers to an existing network.
  • Experience in developing and closing fleet, governmental and corporate sales
  • Experience writing and implementing strategic product marketing plans.
  • Success in introducing and launching an automotive brand.
  • Marketing research and competitive intelligence gathering.
  • Planning and budgeting experience.
  • Management experience and skills.
  • Experience in event planning.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Computer proficiency: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Explorer, Photoshop, PageMaker.

    EDUCATION:
    Bachelor's degree in business or marketing communications preferred. MBA is a plus.
