POSITION TITLE: Warehouse/Distribution Manager

REPORTING TO: Operations Manager

LOCATION: Stockton, CA

OUR CLIENT:
The company makes dairy related products and operates a cold-storage warehouse facility in Stockton.

We are seeking a Warehouse Manager to oversee the daily functions and logistics of a cold-storage warehouse.


SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Warehouse Manager will supervise and coordinate the activities of workers engaged in lifting, transporting, storing, and loading ice cream and related perishable dairy products.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Studies receiving or shipping notices, requests for movement of finished products, and reports of warehousing space available and develops schedules for ordering product.
  • Confers with Operations Manager, Stockton & Los Angeles to coordinate flow of finished product.
  • Verifies or prepares records such as routing slips and product purchase orders.
  • Interprets Company policies and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations to workers and enforces safety regulations.
  • Interprets job orders to route drivers, and assigns duties.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet distribution schedules.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of delivery routes.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Maintains time and production records of drivers.
  • Assists Sales Manager in servicing and customers.
  • Performs activities of workers supervised.
  • Oversees warehouse maintenance which includes refrigeration equipment and building maintenance.


    EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
    Minimum of ten years work experience.
    Five years of related warehouse management experience.
    Three years of supervisory experience.
    Experience in related product is ideal; perishable products experience is preferred.
    Experience dealing with and/or managing route drivers is a plus.
    Computer applications using MS office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and warehouse operating systems
    Excellent leadership, training, communication, employee relations skills, team building and problem-solving skills.
    Ability to lead/own projects and follow through on assignments.
    Strong logistics skills in all functions
    Excellent customer service skills
    Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    Knowledge of warehouse procedures and safety laws.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS:
    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees within the organization.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

    REASONING ABILITY:
    Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

    EDUCATION:
    Associate's degree (A.A. or A.S.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
