POSITION TITLE: Production Supervisor, Ice Cream

REPORTING TO: Plant Manager

LOCATION: Los Angeles, CA 90063

OUR CLIENT:

The company makes dairy related products and operates a production facility in Los Angeles.

We are seeking a Production Supervisor to supervise and coordinate the production activities of the ice-cream novelty facility.

SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Including additional duties as assigned:

  • Inspects products to verify conformance to specifications and directs setup and adjustments of machines.
    · Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignments.
    · Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
    · Interprets specifications and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.
    · Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
    · Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
    · Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of the department or work crew.
    · Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
    · Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
    · Maintains time and production records.
    · Coordinates production activities with procurement, maintenance and quality control activities.
    · Strives for optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines and equipment.
    · Develops and implements operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems, improve product quality and reduce product losses.
    · Performs activities of workers supervised.

    ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Frequently called back to the plant during off-duty hours.
    · Must exercise continuous leadership to focus plant efforts on priorities.
    · Must deal with constantly shifting priorities.
    · Must have a technical understanding of the process.
    · Continuous attention towards safety, environmental and health concerns.
    · Strict adherence to Corporate and/or Plant policies, rules and regulatory compliance.
    · A commitment in carrying out the Company's Quality Policy.

    EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

    LANGUAGE SKILLS:
    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
    Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

    REASONING ABILITY:
    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

    EDUCATION:
    Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two (2) years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in food manufacturing (preferably ice cream/novelties) is strongly desired. Prior supervisory experience is preferred.
