The Company is looking for a Senior Electronics Design Engineer who can bring state of the art knowledge about electronics design, yet be familiar with older technologies.
SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Senior Electronics Design Engineer will be responsible for enhancing and supporting the entire electronic design process, including, but not limited to:
Support electronic product development from design to production release.
Electronic design, analysis and testing of new products from product specification, producing electronic prototypes and preparation of all necessary design documentation.
Electronic circuit design and board layout for very small electro-mechanical devices and instruments.
Accurate project and design documentation.
Interface closely with marketing to create and develop products according to customer needs.
Interact with contract engineers that support product development.
Develop and maintain electronic vendor selection and involvement to ensure the highest quality products.
Obtain necessary product approvals. Communicate progress throughout the design process.
Provide technical support for new and existing products in manufacturing and in the field.
Produce and maintain design schedules.
Staff and operate an electronics lab.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
The Senior Electronics Design Engineer must have a minimum of eight years of electronic design experience, with the past five years of hands-on experience in the following areas:
Ability to create and design from "white paper" electronic circuitry for small mechanical mechanisms such as: latching devices, locking devices, solenoid actuators and very small motor driven devices and instruments.
Excellent software skills; ability to write firmware code and experience with the following in order of priority: C++, Visual Basic, and Visual C.
Creative and innovative design ability from concept to production, through systematic project management.
Administrative and leadership capabilities to supervise an engineering technician and to hire and supervise additional staff.
Experience interviewing and selecting vendors and capital equipment purchases that are related to electronics engineering.
Experience providing accurate project and design documentation.
Experience working closely with marketing to create and develop products according to customer needs.
Analog and digital circuit design, board layout and prototype building, specify the proper components.
Experience using encryption algorithms is a plus.
Modem and circuit design for 2-way radio and telephone; DTMF.
Must be able to write reports and technical manuals.
Ability to specify the latest components.
Knowledge of miniature stepper motor control is a plus.
Design ability with TCP/IP, is a plus.

EDUCATION:
Bachelor's Degree: Electrical Engineering or equivalent. Master's degree in engineering is a plus.
