POSITION TITLE: Chief Operations Officer

REPORTING TO: President

DIRECT REPORTS: Directors and Managers of Engineering, MIS, Material and Inventory Control, Production,
Customer Service, Human Resources, National Sales and Marketing.

LOCATION: Phoenix, Arizona

Started in 1975, the Company manufactures small, electro-mechanical devices for the security and public service industry. From key vaults to comprehensive key control systems, they provide the public safety community with proven, dependable products and services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

A high impact, high visibility position, where, in collaboration with the CEO and the executive staff, the COO will execute the analysis and evaluation of the current business and its process. This is not a "turn around situation;" this is a position that requires a strategist. The COO will develop new plans that will expand market share, sustain and grow profits by enhancement of current products and by new product development. Additionally, the COO will execute creative, well researched business development opportunities.

This candidate should have extensive experience and demonstrable skill to explore all business disciplines and needs to be committed to maintaining a culture of integrity, high customer response and value, and the growth of a high energy, positive staff and employees. This COO will see that the company goals and accountabilities are reached by having effective teams which have a strategist mind set, so that business challenges are viewed as an opportunity for both individuals and the company.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • The candidate will have grown a manufacturing business substantially, organically (not only through acquisition) and profitably, and must be prepared to demonstrate the strategy, planning and execution of this growth.
  • Demonstrated leadership, and team building abilities. Ability to coach and develop members of management team to be more effective in their roles and competencies. Has a proven plan for inspiring a positive culture where growth an development are encouraged and supported.
  • Must understand the principles of mechanical design engineering. The candidate will be very knowledgeable about manufacturing practices.
  • Experience working in a privately held company and have a verifiable, positive track record of results running and growing previous businesses.
  • A history of working with a designed, manufactured, commercial/industrial product, focusing on product that is geared to a specific niche market. The ideal candidate will have a high-tech background in commercial and/or industrial manufacturing. (Not consumer products)
  • A verifiable positive track record of growing an industrial manufacturing business, from the $25 million++ revenue range. At least ten years of work experience in a high level operations and managerial position.
  • Verifiable positive track record with national sales, marketing and business development.

    EDUCATION:

    MBA, with an emphasis in finance and/or marketing required; Bachelor's degree in Engineering is a plus.
