POSITION TITLE: Manufacturing Engineer

REPORTING TO: President

LOCATION: Phoenix, AZ 85027 (Company will pay relocation assistance for the candidate, if necessary.)
The company will relocate candidate to Arizona, if necessary.

The Company is looking for a Senior Electronics Design Engineer who can bring state of the art knowledge about electronics design, yet be familiar with older technologies.

SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for overseeing and maintaining the manufacturing organization by developing instructions for all products and processes, identifying and solving production problems, and conducting prototype production runs.

S/he will be responsible for enhancing and supporting the entire fabrication, manufacturing and assembly process, including, but not limited to:

  • Work with Mechanical Design Engineers and other team members to plan out the machining and assembly process for current and future products.

  • Identify and solve production problems; implement changes to machine shop and assembly processes.

  • Plan and conduct prototype and pilot production runs for engineering development in the Machine Shop.

  • Coordinate process development of new products from engineering into manufacturing and assembly.

  • Manage assembly and machine shop area for daily efficiencies, process improvements, and efficient use of manpower.

  • Work with Materials Planner to meet daily production schedules.

  • Recommend and implement manufacturing, assembly, and mechanical design engineering plans and projects.

  • Provide input to design engineering to improve products for assembly and processing.

  • Oversee and coordinate maintenance tasks for all manufacturing equipment and HAZMAT disposal.

  • Participate in various engineering planning and staff meetings to review problems, progress, and schedules.

  • Research best tooling for manufacturing and design fixtures.

    EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED:

    At least ten years of professional manufacturing engineering experience, with the past five years of hands-on experience in the following areas:

  • Coordinate introduction of new products from Engineering into Manufacturing. Plan and conduct prototype and pilot production runs.

  • Knowledge of machining systems such as CNC milling, CNC lathes, robotic welding and related part fixturing.

  • Hands-on experience in electro-mechanical assembly methods.

  • Materials knowledge: adhesives, cyanoacrylates, epoxies, electroplating, powder coating and lubricants. Metal processing such as plating, coating, powder coating.

  • Design all tools, inventories, head-count and processes, to promote the most efficient, effective, profitable and safe work environment.

    Key Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of manufacturing engineering design principles.
    · Knowledge of assembly of commercial electro-mechanical devices.
    · Knowledge of assembly processes, machining methods, and improvements.
    · Knowledge of set up and maintenance specifications for manufacturing machinery.
    · Knowledge of proper and safe handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
    · Knowledge of project management techniques.
    · Knowledge of or able to learn MRP software.
    · Machine shop techniques and practices.
    · Ability to recommend and justify the purchase of manufacturing equipment.
    · Ability to prepare and verify detailed calculations and specifications.
    · Strong communication and problem solving skills.
    · Work independently while adhering to department operating rules and guidelines.
    · Organize and prioritize tasks and activities.
    · Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
    · Ability to successfully complete projects/sub-projects within agreed upon deadlines.

    EDUCATION:
    Graduation from a four-year college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related field is required.
