POSITION TITLE: Field Service Project Manager- North America
REPORTING TO: Director- North & South America. (Dotted line reporting to Head of Support)
LOCATION: Oakland, CA (Rockridge area, 94618. Eight blocks from Rockridge BART station)

SAFEmine™ is a compact, electro-mechanical and GPS guided traffic alert and collision avoidance system, suitable for all types of vehicles in open pit mines. It warns with audio and visual indications of possible collisions and supports the driver by improving his traffic awareness, especially in blind spots around his vehicle. With over 34,000 units installed in aircrafts and mining vehicles worldwide, this proven technology can be used with minimal installation, and offers additional add-ons such as speeding and rollover alarms or “black box” recording of position and speed. SAFEmine is a growing company with offices in Switzerland, Australia, and USA. Countries where SAFEmine is represented include the USA, South Africa, West Africa, Canada, Colombia, Brazil, Peru, Chile, India, and Indonesia.
We seek a Field Service Project Manager- North America who will be responsible for managing our new and existing customers and coordinating the installation and support of our products at various surface mines in North America.
SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This role is field service support and project management …including technician/engineer/service/test work, including customer visits, planning, executing and auditing installations, operator and local partner training, second level support for technical system maintenance, and an active interaction on ongoing or upcoming activities and issues with customers and local partners' staff. When required, you will assist our sales team with product trials at new customer sites.
Expect travel in the USA and Canada up to 50% of your time. A valid passport and a valid/clean driver's license are a must.
Project management:
- Plan, direct, perform and coordinate trials to ensure that customers choose a full deployment
- Discuss content of Support Contracts with customers and implement them
- Ensure full customer satisfaction throughout project
- Ensure profitability of each installation and support project
- Project manager on deployments (including post calculation of projects and feedback to R&D)
- After sales technical support and client management for new and existing customers
- Off- and on-site training of mine trainers and technicians
- On-site support visits (training, vehicle register revision, auditing of installers)
- Provide off-site customer support via phone calls, email, Teamviewer (remote access software)
- When required, evaluate local installer in cooperation with supervisor to implement installation and support contracts
- Maintain technical communication and workflow between the customer and the company
- Regular formal and informal information exchange with supervisor and head of support and business development manager
- Technical contribution to proposals for new installations and projects
- Assemble sync stations and test station at office before shipments
- Assemble various electronics (power supplies, enclosures, cabling) at office for custom projects
Additional tasks:
- Generate incident reports in cooperation with Support Manager
- Assist in reviewing SAFEmine technical documents
- Assist in creating new training and support documents in cooperation with Support Manager
- Organize external and internal team viewer training sessions
On occasion:
- Install the system, when no certified installers are available
- On-site demonstrations in North America (USA and Canada)
- Discuss product and project requirements with potential customers
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED:
You must have field technician engineer experience with successfully installing, troubleshooting and repairing electrical or electro-mechanical products.
Minimum of three years spent in technical customer support with direct customer contact or equivalent roles.
Familiarity with electronics and/or GPS systems.
Strong technical troubleshooting skills.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Mining or similar industry experience is a plus (not required).
Must have traveled to the field for technician work; not just repairing products in a local office
Must be willing and able to work outside and in a mining operation.
ATTRIBUTES/CAPABILITIES:
Interest in or experience with embedded systems electronics, GPS, radio systems, Internet protocols and WiFi networks, auto-electrical installations are an advantage.
Must be willing to travel in the USA and Canada up to 50% of your time.

EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS:
Bachelor’s degree in mining, mechanical or electrical engineering or related technical degree.
