HVAC Company



Reporting to the Construction Manager, the Design Build Estimator/Project Manager will be a key to maximizing Company's competitive ability in the marketplace. S/He will:

  • Proactively identify opportunities to bid on projects, thus developing his/her own new customer base within the company; participate in project walk throughs, design and estimate accurately the cost of the projects and manage them so effectively and efficiently that they are profitable.
  • Be willing to open ceilings and climb up on roofs to identify existing mechanical systems.
  • Be able to creatively and cost effectively design replacement HVAC units and systems.
  • Consistently provide neat and accurate write-ups for all types of mechanical construction.
  • Negotiate and communicate effectively with customers and vendors, representing the company in a professional manner; demonstrate knowledge of vendors and procuring quotations. Build long term relationships.
  • Be able to anticipate design problems before they happen and contribute creative suggestions for estimate/proposal approaches; handle all scheduling issues effectively.
  • Quickly assimilate the Company business systems and practices, concern for clients, employees, and the company.
  • Develop good relationships and strong communication links with the rest of the Company team.


The successful candidate will have at least five years of demonstrable achievement as an estimator in the design/build mechanical contracting arena and will have developed and used good estimating practices. S/He will have a solid knowledge of mechanical estimating methods and procedures, material and costs, labor units, commodities and components, as well as an understanding of general mechanical design and engineering concepts. A career progression that shows stability is important and field experience will be a plus. A college degree is a plus.

Personal characteristics that will help this individual be successful in the organization include: common sense, a drive to succeed, excellent time management and personal organizational skills, and the ability to gain credibility quickly and fit into a fast-paced company with medium-sized projects. S/He will be a self-starter who can generate leads and turn them into his/her own account base. With high integrity and a "whatever it takes to get it done" approach, s/he will meet revenue and minimum gross profit goals. While able to set priorities and manage himself/herself effectively, the successful candidate will also be open to guidance and input from top management at Company.


The base salary and benefits package are competitive, and bonuses will come from building the customer base and meeting profit goals. Earnings will be limited only by the effort and creativity brought in by the successful candidate. In addition, part of the reward will come from the satisfaction of solving client problems on a daily basis and creating a business under the umbrella of an established organization.
