POSITION TITLE: Multiple Positions Available: Managing Director, Senior Estimators and Estimators

REPORTING TO: Principal

LOCATION: Southern California, including Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego Counties, Inland Empire

Our client is a nationally recognized construction cost consulting firm based in California, with over 30 years experience in cost analysis and construction management, focusing on education, civic and transit projects, as well as other publicly funded projects.

The team of dedicated professionals have worked on literally thousands of schools, hundreds of civic and justice complexes, and dozens of large-scale transit and public works projects, bringing commitment, accuracy, and attention to detail that is unmatched in the industry.

SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

We are seeking an outstanding senior estimator to work on a variety of high profile, commercial and institutional projects. Services offered are primarily design phase estimating, but may include on-site change order estimating, scheduling, document control, site engineering, and/or on-site project management.

This candidate will have demonstrated ability to produce meticulous estimates at concept, schematic, design development and final phases, from plans at varying stages of completion. Estimator s are aided by Digitizers, computerized estimating equipment, and input into Excel templates; therefore, a good knowledge of Excel is required. Types of estimates include CSI, UNIFORMAT, and custom estimating formats to meet clients' needs.

This position requires effective communication with clients regarding their projects, as well the ability to communicate effectively with owners, contractors and subcontractors, to stay abreast of the construction marketplace.

The position may also require special projects, such as in-depth research into specific areas of contraction cost, or development of cost databases for specific sectors.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Minimum of five years estimating experience in large institutional projects, preferably with a strong background in educational facilities. Other types of relevant institutional projects may be heath care, office, correctional, civic (libraries, museums, theater, fire/police,) and transit.

The successful candidate will have strong conceptual estimating skills with at least 5 years completing assignments on projects of $10-$50 million in construction costs.

Ability to perform quantity take-off from drawings and specifications. This person must have the ability to visualize completed projects from minimal information and accurately predict the final cost of the project.

Candidate should possess an in-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, and market pricing.

Strong knowledge and experience w MS Excel is required.

Quantity survey degree, project management and/or claims analysis experience is a plus

Potential to progress into management role within company.

For Education Sector Leader position: Ten years institutional experience, expertise and knowledge of the educational sector, creativity in improving processes, leadership skills, and proven track record not only in technical expertise, but also in client management and business development skills.

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:

Outstanding oral and written communication skills; time management capabilities; commitment to detail; basic understanding of financial and cost control procedures are a must.Ability to work with architects, engineers and owners.
Organized person who can handle large amounts of data.
Good sense of business development. Able to secure new work by reputation of past successful work.
Engineering or architecture background desirable.
Field experience desirable.
Presentation skills desirable.
Reasonably skilled at technical writing.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent, in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
